In soft tissue cell regenerative and reparative therapies, this term generally refers to strategies intended to support restoration of tissue quality, structure, signaling, and function through biologic activity rather than simple camouflage or replacement. Mechanistically, it may involve modulation of inflammation, activation of fibroblasts or progenitor-cell pathways, extracellular matrix remodeling, angiogenic support, and improved cellular communication. In clinical and marketing use, however, “regenerative” can range from a strict biologic claim of tissue restoration to a broader philosophy emphasizing long-term tissue health, natural integration, and progressive improvement over time. It is not best used as a blanket synonym for any product or procedure that produces visible improvement, short-term volumization, or nonspecific aesthetic enhancement without evidence or rationale tied to tissue restoration or reparative biology.
